Humans also called Homo Sapiens, are the dominant species on earth. Humans possess no enhanced abilities and are thus weak compared to supernatural species. The human race makes up the majority of the earth's humanoid species; they are commonly noted for their desire to influence and understand the environment by seeking to explain and manipulate phenomena through mythology, philosophy, religion, and science.

Relations with supernatural beings

In Hemlock Grove despite all that goes on, there is little that humans know about upirs, werewolves, vargulfs, witches or anything else.  

Becoming Supernatural

A human can become a supernatural creature by chance or by choice:

• 1) They are bitten by a werewolf or vargulf and survive.
• 2) Drink from the footprint of a werewolf or vargulf.
• 3) Practising magical arts and become adept in magic.

• Mortality: Because humans do not have rapid healing factor they can be killed by disease, ageing and any form of physical harm.
